Crypto fund-flow & tracing terms
Definitions for victims and investigators — then run a report on tracefunds.app or read our guides.
Trace funds
Follow outbound crypto transfers on a public blockchain from a wallet or transaction hash through each hop — using explorer data, not private keys.
Read definition →Wallet drain
Unauthorized outbound movement of tokens, NFTs, or native assets from a compromised wallet — often in minutes via approval abuse or key theft.
Read definition →Fund-flow graph
A visual map of how crypto moved between wallets and services — nodes are addresses or labeled entities, edges are transfers with amounts and timestamps.
Read definition →CEX deposit pattern
On-chain activity consistent with funds moving toward a centralized exchange hot wallet — useful for exchange abuse filings, not proof of who controls the account.
Read definition →Bridge hop
A transfer through a cross-chain bridge contract — assets leave one network and may continue on another, requiring separate tracing on the destination chain.
Read definition →Mixer / privacy pool
A service that pools and re-distributes crypto to obscure origin — onward tracing from the pool is often not possible with public data alone.
Read definition →Transaction hash (tx hash)
A unique identifier for one on-chain transaction — paste it into an explorer or Tracefunds to decode exactly what moved in that tx.
Read definition →Verification checklist
A gated list of facts to confirm in your report before copying a victim brief or sharing externally — reduces bad forwards under pressure.
Read definition →Exchange abuse report
A structured package of on-chain evidence sent to a platform abuse desk after theft — hashes, addresses, timeline, and safe language (not a guarantee of freeze).
Read definition →Approval & allowance audit
A review of standing permissions that let third parties move your assets — ERC-20/NFT approvals on EVM, SPL token-account delegates on Solana.
Read definition →SPL delegate (Solana)
A third-party address authorized on an SPL token account to transfer tokens up to a set amount — Solana’s analogue to an ERC-20 approval, stored per token account.
Read definition →Solana transaction signature
The base58 identifier for one Solana transaction — paste it into Solscan or Tracefunds to decode SOL, SPL, NFT, and program actions in that signature only.
Read definition →Solana NFT drain
Unauthorized outbound movement of Metaplex, compressed (cNFT), or marketplace-listed NFTs from a Solana wallet — often bulk transfers in minutes after a malicious sign.
